2025 Tariff Update from XETX Business Solutions

Tariff

At XETX, our goal is to make IT simpler, more efficient, and more affordable for our clients. To us, this involves being upfront when external factors, such as the current and upcoming tariff changes, can influence the pricing and/or availability of items our clients will need. We do not want to alarm anyone, but with uncertainty lying ahead, we’d like to share what we currently know.

What we know so far:

To better evaluate the impact current and possible future tariffs have on the technology industry, we must note that no technology product is exclusively manufactured in the United States. Even if the device is assembled in the U.S, it is highly likely some of the subcomponents have been imported from other nations, which makes the industry vulnerable to price increases.

On February 1, 2025, the U.S government released a fact sheet detailing the tariffs that will be imposed on goods imported from Canada, China, and Mexico. Some of these tariffs took effect on April 5, 2025. A separate tariff exemption is scheduled to expire on June 14, 2025, which will possibly increase tariffs on selected goods, such as computer chips, from 25% to 45%.  Costs associated with shipping, labor, and logistics are also likely to increase, which will impact the final cost to the consumer.

How this change will affect the tech world:

Tariffs create a ripple effect across the supply chain.  When the cost of materials, subcomponents, labor, finished products, and freight rises; the end cost to the consumer will naturally be higher.

Looking ahead:

Proceeding with a calm, data-driven approach, XETX has no intention of causing panic to our clients or utilizing any pressure tactics. As for now, we will keep pricing as it is while we work to better understand the long-term impact before taking action. We intend to keep in contact with our vendors to understand their timelines and strategies for keeping costs down. Any changes we must make, we will make with transparency. There will be no hidden costs.

What you can do now:

We do not want anyone to panic, however, if any hardware crucial to your office needs replacing, we recommend consulting with your IT sooner rather than later. XETX is here to help each of our clients navigate this, not only with computers and copiers, but with planning, support, clear communication, and realistic options. If you have any questions, we would love to speak with you! We greatly appreciate the confidence in each of our clients’ places in us, and look forward to continue earning it.
